Stage 3A learners witnessed a demonstration of investigation on the dissolving process as a part of understanding mixtures and solutions. Various solids like sugar, salt, sand and liquids like oil were used to try and test the dissolving process. During this investigation, they analysed that the solids which dissolve in water or any liquid just do not vanish and are still a part of the mixture. They observed that sand, unlike other solids, could not dissolve in water. Learners also learnt about how these mixtures could be separated using processes like filtration, evaporation, magnets and a few mixtures just by hand sorting.
