Summer reminds us of picnics, sea, sand and the many treats you relish like the bright flowers, longer days, yummy ice-creams, juicy mangoes all enjoyed when embraced in the sun’s warmth. Students of Grade I experienced the fun of summer on 12 July 2021 when the teacher took them on a virtual picnic to a beach. It was planned creatively on a Google Jamboard. All the students put on their thinking caps to predict what the weather will be like and their preference for clothes, food, and drinks. They packed their bags with all things they needed, food, drinks, and went on a virtual picnic to the beach. Furthermore, children went grocery shopping to select the fruits and vegetables they must eat in summer and learned the importance of staying hydrated when the days are hot. Students learn best through direct experiences and exploration.
