With this noble thought in mind, we at Suchitra Academy celebrated the ‘Festival of Kites and Khichdi’ with our students by showcasing the different ways of observing the harvest festival in our country. Makar Sankranti is celebrated in Maharashtra and Gujarat, Bihu in Assam, Pongal in Tamilnadu and South India and Lohri in Punjab. Our students put across various dance forms from different parts of our country. We spoke about the spiritual significance of this festival and the delicious ‘Khichdi and til ke ladoos’ which signify this festival. This was followed by a fun filled Kite-making activity as a part of Self Care session where they had to make a wish which they wanted to see soaring high up in the sky!
We hope that experiencing and sharing different aspects of this festival, have encouraged our students to be open minded, tolerant and respectful towards each other, embrace differences and cherish similarities in their beliefs and cultures in these hard times.
