Playing is a child’s way of engaging, and pretending creates alternate realities to the real world. Role play is more than just fun. It is an important element of learning. To absorb more and more experiences and make sense of the world, they need to be engaged in imaginary plays. Learners of Stages 3 were encouraged to perform the myth ‘Bear and Fire’ as a play in the class to make learning interesting. In the same way, learners of Stage 5 performed a science fiction ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again’ as a play . Learners had fun and also developed confidence while performing and delivering their dialogues.
