On Saturday, 11th September 2021, Ms.Trisha Chakraborty, Vice Principal and Ms. Usha Gupta, Head Pre-primary, conducted a workshop for Pre-primary parents on the importance of early years. The focus of the workshop was to understand Brain-based Learning to connect with activities that are vital for essential skills like reading, writing and numeracy that children need to develop in the early years.
Taking the motivational theory of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs as a framework, the importance of how adults deal with children was taken up. Teachers conducted brain-breaks and Ms. Sherlye Joycee, Pre-primary coordinator, conducted Read Aloud story with the parents to help them experience how teachers take up these activities in the class and their relevance in the curriculum.
