Non-standard units are introduced to children to make them understand the concept of measuring without them having to read any scales. Measurement provides opportunities to strengthen both children’s numeracy skills and understanding of measurement simultaneously. On 19th December, children of Grade I enjoyed learning this new chapter by measuring things with their hands and feet. Some of the non-standard units of length that the children explored were handspan and foot span.
