The little scientists of Stage 1 explored the concept of floating and sinking with the help of an experiment in the classroom. Before the experiment, learners were asked to predict whether all plastic objects sink, if all flat objects float and whether all the metal objects sink. Students were encouraged to talk in pairs before sharing their prediction, along with a reason to validate their point. Later on, the children tested a few materials that they were asked to get from their homes (coins, pencil, paper, stone), and at last they recorded their findings in the science notebook.
