It was a moment of awe for the students of Grades XI and XII when Captain Arjun Deshpande, recipient of the Sena Medal for holding off the Chinese Army at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh on 15th June, 2022, interacted with them. He addressed the gathering with the right tone of enthusiasm and shared anecdotes about his time spent in protecting our country at the freezing temperatures of the snow-capped mountains and recovering from an injury with a smile, bouts of motivation and patrio tism filled the air listening to the acts of bravery and courage displayed by the Indian Army. The session reached its highest point when 2 topics were open for discussion with the students.
1. Should military training be made compulsory for all?
2. Should India spend more on defence keeping in mind the requirement for health and development? The students had pertinent points to share as their opinions on the above topics.
It was a moment of pride for Suchitra to have Captain Despande among us.
