In this Science activity, the learners of Stage 2A made sundials using a pencil and a paper plate to track the arc movement of the sun across the sky from east to west. As the day passed, the shadow of the pencil moved around the Paper Plate Dial. The students observed that every hour it fell on a new hour line and tried to understand how the ancient Egyptians made the earliest instruments for telling time – the sundial in about 3500 BCE old.
