Learning to use the dictionary promotes lifelong self-learning habits, which in turn makes the learners independent. By incorporating regular dictionary usage into classroom practice, we can enhance learners’ awareness of the type of information they can find in the dictionary help them to use it to improve their writing and become more autonomous learners. What’s more, by proactively doing something with a word (looking it up, thinking about it, then using it), they also broaden and deepen their vocabulary knowledge. Learners of Stage 2A use the dictionary effectively in English class.
