On the 19th of July, senior secondary psychology students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the guest lecture on ‘Expressive & Creative Art Therapy’ by Ms Nitya. From the various activities to the deep conversations about their personal experience, the students engaged in an interactive and knowledgeable session. The students learned about the use of expressive art therapy in clinical settings to better aid clients in understanding and learning more about themselves and how to take
steps that help the client reach their ideal state of life. E.A.T. has various methods/activities to help the therapist better understand their client. Some of these activities are visual art, drama therapy, movement therapy, expressive body, music therapy, poetry-play-storytelling and psychodrama. This session offered students a valuable opportunity to introspect and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. It proved to be an enriching learning experience, allowing them to explore aspects of their personality which were previously unexplored. Through reflecting on their challenges, students not only discovered more about their strengths but also unearthed positive aspects of themselves they may not have recognized before.
