1st December to 10th December 2024 , 10 students of our school from Grades IX and XI embarked on an incredible journey as part of the AFS Cultural Exchange Program hosted by Hollotoli School, Nagaland. This program offered a unique opportunity to delve into the vibrant traditions, breath-taking landscapes, and warm hospitality of Nagaland, a region renowned for its rich cultural heritage. The adventure began in Dimapur, where the students received a heartfelt welcome from the hosts at Hollotoli School. Their itinerary included engaging workshops such as bamboo craft and traditional jewelry making, providing insight into the meticulous artistry of the Naga people. Visits to local markets revealed the unique culinary culture of the region, with exotic items like silk worms and bamboo beverages capturing everyone’s curiosity.
A trek through lush forests and hills allowed students to experience Nagaland’s serene natural beauty. The highlight of the trip was attending the iconic Hornbill Festival in Kisama, where students witnessed the cultural richness of Nagaland’s 18 distinct tribes. The festival featured vibrant costumes, traditional dances, and melodious folk songs, immersing everyone in the colorful tapestry of Naga life.This cultural exchange wasn’t merely about observing traditions; it was a transformative journey of personal growth. Students learned the value of preserving heritage, stepping out of their comfort zones, and building meaningful connections. The program deepened their appreciation for India’s diversity and underscored the importance of mutual respect and understanding in today’s globalized world.The trip to Nagaland left students with lasting memories, valuable lessons, and an unwavering commitment to celebrating and safeguarding cultural diversity.
