Music, the soul of our culture, weaves stories, emotions, and traditions into its melodies. In an enriching classroom activity based on the poem “Wandering Singers,” our enthusiastic Grade VI students embarked on a journey to explore legendary Indian musicians and their iconic instruments. With curiosity and dedication, they delved into the world of classical and folk music, uncovering contributions from maestros like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Zakir Hussain, M.S. Subbulakshmi, and more. They researched the essence of instruments like the sitar, tabla, veena, and flute, which shape India’s rich musical heritage. This activity was a celebration of music’s power in society, teaching students that music is a universal language connecting hearts, preserving traditions, and inspiring generations. Just as wandering singers spread melodies far and wide, our students discovered that music transcends time and boundaries.
