Stages 1 & 8 Unite: A Magical Buddy Reading Experience

Learners from Stages 1 and 8 came together for an enchanting “Each One Read One” activity as part of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program. Held at Zootopia from 9:25 a.m. to 10:05 a.m., the session saw Stage 8 students pairing up with their younger Stage 1 buddies to read aloud the little ones’ favorite books, creating a joyful and enriching atmosphere.This heartwarming initiative celebrated the magic of storytelling while fostering meaningful peer connections. It beautifully illustrated how reading can unite learners across generations, nurturing both a love for literature and lasting friendships.

Stage 2: Bringing Book Characters to Life

Stage 2 learners enthusiastically participated in the captivating Character Spotlight activity as part of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program. During a vibrant classroom parade, students brought their favorite book characters to life through books and self-created drawings. This interactive session showcased their creativity and imagination while also sparking excitement and curiosity about the world of storytelling. It provided a delightful platform for young readers to express their love for literature in a fun, engaging, and memorable way.
Stage 3: Sharing Stories Through Book Talks

Stage 3 learners took part in the exciting Book Talk Showcase as part of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program. Students delivered passionate presentations about their favorite books, delving into the plot, characters, and the reasons these stories captivated them.

Stage 5 and 6: Inspiring Minds Through Stories—A Literary Journey with Vardhini Amin

On 30th December, learners from Stage 5 and 6 delved into the magic of storytelling during the highly anticipated “Drop Everything and Read” Day, an event designed to foster a lifelong passion for reading and creativity.The highlight was an engaging session with celebrated author Vardhini Amin, who captivated the audience with insights into her acclaimed novel, The Forestborns. Sharing vivid anecdotes, Ms. Amin revealed her process of crafting intricate characters, building enchanting worlds, and turning imagination into compelling narratives. Her inspiring journey motivated learners to explore their own creative potential.The event also featured a dynamic group reading activity, where learners explored excerpts from The Forestborns, sparking lively discussions and imaginative interpretations.

Stage 7 learners brought the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) program to an exhilarating conclusion with a lively “Battle of the Books” debate. The event pitted two literary icons, Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, against each other, celebrating their captivating stories, intricate characters, and thought-provoking themes.The debate kicked off with creative introductions that vividly captured the spirit of each series, setting an electrifying tone. Teams then presented persuasive arguments, bolstered by carefully chosen textual evidence, as they highlighted the merits of their chosen books. The excitement peaked during spirited rebuttals, where students showcased exceptional critical thinking by challenging opposing viewpoints with finesse.The event concluded with powerful closing statements that emphasized the unique appeal of each series, leaving the audience enthralled. This dynamic literary showdown not only deepened students’ love for reading but also honed their skills in public speaking, teamwork, and analysis.

She has experience of over 20 years as a progressive educator. Before joining Suchitra Academy, she worked at ASN International School (Delhi) and Delhi Public School (Hyderabad). She believes that every child deserves special care and affection to be able to spread their wings to fly and that It is the responsibility of teachers to identify the talents, skills, abilities and interest of the students and nurture them in such a way that each one of them blooms every step of their way. To add to it, she stresses the importance of parents’ involvement in their child’s lives.
