On 30th December, 2024, the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program concluded with a vibrant celebration, uniting learners from Stages 1 to 8 in a series of engaging activities designed to cultivate a lifelong passion for reading. The event featured interactive sessions that encouraged storytelling, creativity, and collaboration, sparking imagination and fostering a deep appreciation for literature. Participants explored the transformative power of books through activities that celebrated the joy of discovery and the boundless worlds unlocked by reading.This memorable grand finale left a lasting impression on every learner, emphasizing the importance of stories in shaping young minds. The DEAR Program’s culmination highlighted the program’s success in nurturing literary enthusiasm and inspiring a genuine love for reading. It was a fitting conclusion to a journey that celebrated the magic of books and their role in enriching lives.
Stages 1 & 8 Unite: A Magical Buddy Reading Experience

Learners from Stages 1 and 8 came together for an enchanting “Each One Read One” activity as part of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program. Held at Zootopia from 9:25 a.m. to 10:05 a.m., the session saw Stage 8 students pairing up with their younger Stage 1 buddies to read aloud the little ones’ favorite books, creating a joyful and enriching atmosphere.This heartwarming initiative celebrated the magic of storytelling while fostering meaningful peer connections. It beautifully illustrated how reading can unite learners across generations, nurturing both a love for literature and lasting friendships.

Stage 2: Bringing Book Characters to Life

Stage 2 learners enthusiastically participated in the captivating Character Spotlight activity as part of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program. During a vibrant classroom parade, students brought their favorite book characters to life through books and self-created drawings. This interactive session showcased their creativity and imagination while also sparking excitement and curiosity about the world of storytelling. It provided a delightful platform for young readers to express their love for literature in a fun, engaging, and memorable way.
Stage 3: Sharing Stories Through Book Talks

Stage 3 learners took part in the exciting Book Talk Showcase as part of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program. Students delivered passionate presentations about their favorite books, delving into the plot, characters, and the reasons these stories captivated them.
Held within their classrooms, this engaging activity not only celebrated their love for literature but also enhanced their public speaking and presentation abilities. It was a wonderful opportunity for the young readers to build confidence, develop effective communication skills, and inspire their peers to explore new books.

Stage 4: Celebrating Creativity with Child Authors

Stage 4 budding authors gathered at the soccer field for an inspiring Child Author + My Point of View session as part of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program. During the event, young storytellers shared their creative journeys and unique perspectives, offering a glimpse into their imaginative worlds. This session provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their storytelling talents, inspire their peers, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for creative writing and self-expression. It was a celebration of creativity and the power of words to spark inspiration.

Stage 5 and 6: Inspiring Minds Through Stories—A Literary Journey with Vardhini Amin

On 30th December, learners from Stage 5 and 6 delved into the magic of storytelling during the highly anticipated “Drop Everything and Read” Day, an event designed to foster a lifelong passion for reading and creativity.The highlight was an engaging session with celebrated author Vardhini Amin, who captivated the audience with insights into her acclaimed novel, The Forestborns. Sharing vivid anecdotes, Ms. Amin revealed her process of crafting intricate characters, building enchanting worlds, and turning imagination into compelling narratives. Her inspiring journey motivated learners to explore their own creative potential.The event also featured a dynamic group reading activity, where learners explored excerpts from The Forestborns, sparking lively discussions and imaginative interpretations.
By connecting with a renowned author and engaging in meaningful literary experiences, learners gained a deeper appreciation for storytelling and its transformative power. The day’s enthusiasm underscored the importance of such initiatives in nurturing a lifelong love for books and creativity.

Stage 7: A Thrilling Literary Duel in “Battle of the Books”

Stage 7 learners brought the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) program to an exhilarating conclusion with a lively “Battle of the Books” debate. The event pitted two literary icons, Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, against each other, celebrating their captivating stories, intricate characters, and thought-provoking themes.The debate kicked off with creative introductions that vividly captured the spirit of each series, setting an electrifying tone. Teams then presented persuasive arguments, bolstered by carefully chosen textual evidence, as they highlighted the merits of their chosen books. The excitement peaked during spirited rebuttals, where students showcased exceptional critical thinking by challenging opposing viewpoints with finesse.The event concluded with powerful closing statements that emphasized the unique appeal of each series, leaving the audience enthralled. This dynamic literary showdown not only deepened students’ love for reading but also honed their skills in public speaking, teamwork, and analysis.

Praveen Raju is the founder of Suchitra Academy an International school based in Hyderabad, India. Suchitra Academy provides an integrated facility where India’s Top players like Badminton World Champion, P V Sindhu trains. Praveen is a mentor and guide to P V Sindhu. Mr.Praveen has been featured amongst “25 Leaders Reinventing K-12 Education” in Educational World India. He was the Executive Director of Indus International School, Hyderabad and the Founder Chairman of Indus Early Years, both among the top schools of India in their categories. He was a university-level badminton player and national level snooker player. She has taught and led schools affiliated with SSC, CBSE, CISCE, and Cambridge curricula, giving her a truly diverse understanding of education systems. Dr. Radhika believes that a child thrives when education is meaningful, immersive, and connected to real-world experiences. Her work has consistently reflected her belief that “Education is the most powerful tool to shape a better, greener, and more inclusive world.” She has pioneered tech-enabled learning environments, integrated sustainability into curricula, and developed frameworks that prepare students for academic excellence. Sheryle’s leadership aims to establish a strong foundation for each child’s learning, behavior, and overall well-being in the Early Years. A dedicated and skilled Early Years educator, Sheryle has undergone various training programs to enhance her expertise in Early Years education and childcare. She has been an integral part of Suchitra for the past 4 years, beginning her journey as a teacher and evolving through various roles, leading up to her current position as Head of Early Years Segment. Kamlesh Bahukhandi is a University of Delhi graduate and holds a diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education & Primary Teachers Training. She has experience of over 20 years as a progressive educator. Before joining Suchitra Academy, she worked at ASN International School (Delhi) and Delhi Public School (Hyderabad). She believes that every child deserves special care and affection to be able to spread their wings to fly and that It is the responsibility of teachers to identify the talents, skills, abilities and interest of the students and nurture them in such a way that each one of them blooms every step of their way. To add to it, she stresses the importance of parents’ involvement in their child’s lives. This is particularly critical because learning doesn’t stops at school, rather it should be seen in the continuum. And it is both the teachers and parents who can make it possible by working as collaborators.

She has been in Suchitra for the last nine years and has donned several hats from a primary teacher to Coordinator. She is currently the Head programs and School Coordinator – Academics.

She is a dynamic leader with an enduring passion to help children reach their full potential not just academically but also socially, emotionally, and physically. She enjoys working with children of all ages, which makes her feel young and energetic. It taught her patience, compassion, sincerity, and open-mindedness. She believes every child is unique, and there is so much to facilitate them, which keeps her excited to give her best. Her core strengths lie in being a team worker and sharing strategies to cater to every student’s needs.

She is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the events and programs pertaining to the whole school within the spirit of the school‘s Mission Statement. She provides strategic direction and promotes the aims of the school through the implementation of school policies.
