On 31st August, Grade V students delved into engineering by constructing 3D models of resilient shelters as part of their PBL Inquiry 2, “How do we design and construct shelters that are resilient?”. The inquiry journey took them through the evolution of shelters and explored how factors like climate and natural disasters influence shelter designs in different geographical regions. They learned about the stages of construction, components, functions, and materials used in building shelters, from traditional stilt houses in Assam to the sustainable housing of metropolitan cities. The students creatively applied their critical thinking and engineering skills to design and present shelters that could withstand various environmental challenges. Their models demonstrated an impressive understanding of resilience, showcasing how well they could adapt shelter designs to different environments.
