On June 23rd, the Cambridge community came together to celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga with great energy, mindfulness, and enthusiasm. Although the global celebration took place on 21st June we extended the spirit of the occasion by aligning with the theme “One Earth, One Health”—emphasizing the profound connection between personal well-being and the health of our planet.
Led by our Yoga Mentor, Ms. Uma Kannan, the session began with gentle warm-up movements and transitioned into a series of ‘asanas’ focused on enhancing strength, flexibility, balance, and concentration. The inclusion of pranayama and meditation helped foster a sense of inner calm, awareness, and emotional grounding.
A standout moment was the rhythmic yoga performance by Stage 5 students, whose graceful, music-synced movements left a lasting impression. Another delightful segment was the clapping yoga performed by all the stages, infusing the event with energy, laughter, and collective joy.
Held amidst the tranquil surroundings of our school campus, the session created a meditative atmosphere filled with the sounds of nature and rhythmic breathing, encouraging students to connect with themselves and the environment.
Throughout the day, students reflected on yoga as a holistic practice—supporting not just physical health, but also mental clarity and emotional resilience. This celebration was a powerful reminder of the importance of embracing yoga as a daily habit to nurture a healthier self and a healthier planet.
