On 20th September, Grade I students embarked on an enchanting literary journey with a special read-aloud session featuring ‘Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao.’ This session not only aimed to introduce students to Amy’s character but also provided a delightful window into the world of Chinese dumplings, or ‘bao.’ During the session, a surprising connection emerged when one student drew parallels between the bao and the modak traditionally prepared during Ganpati Chaturthi, showcasing the universality of culinary delights. Our goal was to stimulate imagination and critical thinking among the children, employing strategies such as visualization and predicting outcomes. Ultimately, they gleaned an essential life lesson from Amy’s story – that dedication and practice can help conquer challenges.
