Did you know that the world’s largest gold coin weighing 11 kg was minted in India and came to be with the Nizams of Hyderabad?

As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav’, the students of Grades VI and VII got the golden opportunity not only to know facts or technology pertaining to the evolution of coins and currency, but also got a chance to visit the new Saifabad Mint Museum in Hyderabad. The visit offered an exciting journey through the world of coins and currency with historical facts and the antique equipment used in the mining world about a century ago. The students could also see the coins and currency used in the country since independence which are now obsolete but carefully preserved and displayed. Students made a note of the important facts and interacted with the guide Mr. Siva Rama Krishna. The learning was immense and fruitful for the students to understand the evolution of various things from the medieval era to the modern era.
