On 12th December 2024, Stage 4 learners embarked on a hands-on exploration of fractions. The lesson began with a discussion about the concept of fractions and how they are used to represent parts of a whole. Learners shared real-life examples, such as dividing pizzas or chocolate bars, to reinforce their understanding. To solidify their learning, learners worked together to represent fractions like ½, ¼, and ¾ using folded paper. They divided shapes into equal parts, discovering equivalent fractions and gaining a deeper insight into the relationships between them. This engaging activity not only strengthened learners’ conceptual understanding of fractions but also fostered teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. It was a fun and effective way to build confidence in mathematics.
